DIMAPUR, AUG 26 (NPN): Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, facilitated the successful completion of skill development training for 54 candidates of the seventh batch at its Skill Development Centre (SDC) in Malda.
The programme was attended by POWERGRID Executive Director Adish Kumar Gupta, Chief General Manager (AM) Arun Kumar Singh and Head of Personnel, ER-II, Sandeep Kumar Barik, along with senior officials and other stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries underscored the importance of skill development in improving employability and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for youth. They appreciated the efforts of the trainees and encouraged them to contribute to the power and infrastructure sectors.
Since its inception, the SDC Malda has trained 330 candidates up to the seventh batch. Of these, 165 trainees, including 29 from the seventh batch, have secured placements in organisations across the power, transmission, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.
The trainees have been placed with companies including Skipper Limited, Transformers & Reactors (India) Pvt. Ltd., KEC International, Modina International India, JSL, Resonia and Suzlon, among others.
A key highlight of the programme was the distribution of course completion certificates and job appointment letters to successful trainees by the senior POWERGRID officials. The occasion marked an important milestone for the candidates, several of whom have already begun or are set to begin their professional careers.
The Skill Development Programme provides industry-relevant training and support facilities to youth from the region, with the objective of bridging the gap between skills and employment.
The initiative reflects POWERGRID’s continued commitment to youth empowerment, skill development and sustainable community development through its CSR interventions, while contributing to the creation of a skilled workforce for the country’s expanding power and infrastructure sectors.
