DU reopens inter-college migration window for 2026-27; students can apply till October 9

(DU) has reopened the inter-college migration window for the academic session 2026-27, giving students an additional opportunity to complete the migration process. The university announced the extension on October 7 after students raised concerns over difficulties in completing the process within the earlier deadline.

As per the latest DU notice, eligible students can now apply for inter-college migration from October 7 to October 9, 2026. The university has, however, specified that migration will be permitted only in the III Semester and subject to the declaration of results for both the I and II Semesters.

DU migration 2026: Application window extended till October 9

According to the official notification issued by the University of Delhi, the deadline for inter-college migration for the 2026-27 academic session has been extended to October 9.

The university said the extension is subject to the provisions of Ordinance-IV of the Ordinances of the University. Under the stated conditions, students seeking migration must be in the III Semester, while the results of both the first and second semesters must have been declared.

The notice specifically states that the migration facility will be available only for students meeting these conditions.

Students sought more time to complete migration process

The extension follows concerns raised by students over the earlier deadline.

Students had reportedly pointed to delays in the declaration of examination results, saying that the situation had made it difficult for some of them to complete the migration process within the stipulated period.

The issue gained momentum on October 6, when members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), along with students, staged a protest at the Delhi University Registrarâs Office seeking additional time.

ABVP said its DUSU representatives had repeatedly raised the matter with the university administration and requested that the migration window be reopened for a few more days.

"When the matter did not receive the expected response, ABVP workers and students staged a protest at the Registrarâs Office on 6 October and strongly placed the studentsâ concerns before the university administration," the student organisation said in its statement.

ABVP welcomes DU decision on migration window

Following the universityâs decision, ABVP welcomed the extension, describing it as a response to the concerns raised by students.

The organisation said the reopening of the window followed sustained efforts by students and ABVP-supported DUSU representatives. ABVP Delhi minister Sarthak Sharma and DUSU president Yash Dabas said the organisation would continue to raise student concerns before the university administration.

The universityâs extension gives eligible students an additional three-day window to complete their applications. Students seeking inter-college migration should therefore check the applicable DU rules and ensure that they meet the III Semester and result-related conditions before applying.
